Background

The Islamabad Deworming Initiative was launched in 2018 with the establishment of a multi-stakeholder committee which mandated the formulation of an implementation committee to be led by the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training 

Currently, the program is operationalized by the implementation committee under the chairmanship of Joint Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training with representation from relevant health departments, District Authority, and World Health Organization (WHO). In addition, several education departments under the Ministry of Federal Education are contributing towards the implementation of the program including the Federal Directorate of Education, Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA), and Basic Education Community Schools (BECS). The District Health Office and Health Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) are also engaged to provide health support to the program.
